In 1999, the arrival of the A. Lange & Söhne DATOGRAPH marked the beginning of a new era in chronographs, introducing a specially developed Manufacture movement and a unique dial design. On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, this revolutionary chronograph is now available in a limited series of 125 pieces in 18k white gold with a blue dial.

This event was revolutionary: in 1999, just five years after the debut of its first collection, A. Lange & Söhne presented the DATOGRAPH, its first chronograph movement. The L951.1 caliber, developed in-house in the Saxon Manufacture, combined a column-wheel chronograph, flyback function and the characteristic Grande Data Lange. Since its launch, the DATOGRAPH movement has highlighted the Manufacture's ambition to push the boundaries of watchmaking and explore new frontiers. This was just the beginning of a series of 13 innovative models with chronograph function. Among these, the DATOGRAPH UP/DOWN caliber L951.6, introduced in 2012 and constantly improved, features a power reserve indication extended to 60 hours.

The DATOGRAPH UP/DOWN offers a unique combination of functions, including the flyback mechanism, “exactly jumping” minute counter, Big Date and power reserve indication. This watch allows you to take two consecutive measurements without interruption thanks to the flyback mechanism, which instantly stops, resets and restarts the chronograph. The “exactly jumping” minute counter moves to the next minute when the chronograph reaches the 60th second. The “UP/DOWN” indicator shows the power reserve at 6 o'clock, signaling when the watch needs to be recharged.

From an aesthetic point of view, the DATOGRAPH UP/DOWN stands out for its harmonious and easily recognizable dial. The Big Date, positioned below 12 o'clock, is framed by two subdials, one for the small seconds at 9 o'clock and the other for the minute counter at 3 o'clock. The blue dial, new for this edition, offers a contrast elegant with rhodium-coloured subdials, luminescent hands and baton hour markers.

This watch is powered by the manually wound caliber L951.6, composed of 451 elements and assembled twice to ensure maximum precision. With a frequency of 18.000 vibrations/hour (2,5 Hertz), this movement offers chronometric precision of up to a fifth of a second. Thanks to the sapphire crystal caseback, you can admire the complexity and beauty of the movement, including the minute counter and column wheel.

In addition to the new edition in white gold with a blue dial, the DATOGRAPH UP/DOWN is also available in platinum/black and rose gold/black.
