Independent watchmaking Ressence and Sotheby's Watch Division have joined forces against the coronavirus by launching a competition to design a unique watch. For the first time ever, watch enthusiasts will have the opportunity to create their own interpretation of one of the latest models from Ressence, Type 1 Slim. And the winning design will be produced and subsequently put up for sale by Sotheby's. Proceeds from the initiative will benefit medical research on the Covid-19.

Ressence Type 1 Slim

Are you ready to draw? After reading the article, grab your favorite tools, pencils, markers, ink, graphics program or whatever else you want to use and, create your own version of a clock Ressence Type 1 Slim, choosing these specifications: the color for each single component (remember, only one color for component), the color of the graphics (numbers and indices) and finally the color of the luminescence (Super-LumiNova).

The drawing in graphic format must be sent by e-mail to hello@ressence.be by May 12 (14:00 GMT), along with the participant's name and contact details. The designs can also be shared on Instagram with the hashtag # WatchesAgainstCovid19 and tags @ressence_watches e @SothebysWatches.

The contest is open from yesterday April 28 (14:00 GMT) until May 12 (14:00 GMT). The winning design will be selected by the Belgian designer and founder of Ressence Benoît Mintiens, in consultation with the Swiss manufacturers of the brand, who will bring the watch to life. The winner will have his or her name engraved on the case of the timepiece. The unique piece will be offered at the auction of "Important watches"of Sotheby's a Hong Kong on 11 July 2020. Proceeds from the sale will support the Covid-19 research program at KU Leuven University in Belgium.
