[: En]Today I would like to tell you about one of my favorite timepieces of recent years. There are actually two: the Triple calendrier 1942 and the Triple calendrier 1948 by Vacheron Constantin.

Both models, part of the Historiques collection, are faithfully inspired in style and complications by the iconic calendar watches made in the 40s, which greatly contributed to the expansion and reputation of the Manufacture in the world.

The triple calendar was in fact a very common complication in that period, as well as functional in everyday use.

Historiques Triple calendrier 1942

Inspired by the 4240 reference 1942, the Triple calendrier 1942 has retained the elegance and charm of its predecessor.
It is difficult not to be enchanted by the two-tone dial worked in its central part with a sunray satin finish, and by the external calendar disc punctuated by Arabic numerals.

But what makes this elegant Vacheron truly unique is its case characterized by the stylistic references of the time such as middle case with 'triple knurling' and the wonderful claw handles.

Historiques Triple calendrier 1948

Produced in two limited series of 200 pieces each, the Triple calendrier 1948, reinterprets the historic reference 4240L presented in 1948.

The triple calendar complication is also present in this model, but it is embellished with a sophisticated and fascinating complication: the highly precise lunar cycle.

The dial features a silver opaline center and a satin finish edge. The refined shades of the dial are punctuated by Roman numerals, while the triangular hour markers are crossed by elegant baton hands.

The calendar functions and the moon disc are made in burgundy tones and matched with the brown leather strap.

Both timepieces reveal the Haute Horlogerie finishes of the new caliber with complete calendar through the caseback.

The return of Haute Horlogerie

After nearly a decade of glitz and 'star wars' watches, the watch industry has slowly been rediscovering its origins in recent years. A return to the old but excellent watchmaking, characterized by elegant lines and impeccable finishes. No need for special effects. This is the case with these Triple calendriers by Vacheron Constantin. This is the watchmaking I most appreciate. The one made as a 'timeless' timepiece.
